This post is well overdo, but here it is just the same. Since Porchfest (and all social gatherings) were canceled or postponed in 2020, needless to say, we were all looking forward to an open air event such as Porchfest to welcome some social interaction, even if it was slightly tentative and still appropriately distanced.
This year Quincy Mainstreet took the lead for our city’s Porchfest, and I must say they did an excellent job of booking acts, providing food trucks, setting up porch venues, and incorporating street art.
As always, acts were spread out throughout our downtown area and utilized both the porches of homeowners in the area, as well as the stoops of downtown businesses.
They also had a main stage set up this year which showcased larger acts and drew crowds to clap their hands and stomp their feet. (I may have been one such crowd member. 😉)
All in all, it was a beautiful event on a gorgeous May 1st day, where Quincians could once again greet one another and enjoy local talent under a shared blue sky while breathing in the fresh air and forgetting, even if only for a moment, the germs that have kept us all locked away for so long.
